Before coming to KPR, Polly
#1239 spent her days in a cage,
giving birth to puppy after
puppy. When the breeders were
done with her, she ended up in a
shelter, where who knows what
her fate would have been. Lucky
for Polly, the shelter contacted
KPR and she's learning what it
means to be a dog and not just
an income. According to the vet,
Polly has given birth to over
100 puppies in her 10 years. At
one point in time her pelvis was
broken and due to the lack of
vet care, her bones healed
incorrectly and she has a
'funny' walk. When Polly walks,
the top part of her leg juts
out. The vet says that this is
not painful for her, but given
the injury, it is possible that
she will need a cart down the
road. When first coming into
foster care, Polly was terrified
of humans. Each and every day
Polly becomes more confident and
is starting to trust her foster
parents. While she still doesn't
like to be picked up, she will
come to you when called and will
let you pet her. Polly loves
other dogs and does not mind
cats at all. She continues to
work on housetraining and as
long as you watch for the signs,
she will go outside. Now that
Polly is 'retired', she will be
able to live a life of leisure.
